Your comment makes no sense - why would indians today claim that "red skins" is offensive as referenced to indians when your definition of "oklahoma" supports the claim that the indians call themselves "red humans"!
You really blew it when you think that many Americans think of redskins as having referred to the SCALPS of indians - that is one of the most outrageous stretches ever imagined about this; I'd counter that Indians referred to non-indians as "Redskins" because of the facial coverings that colonialists put on their faces to endure the environment of bugs, etc - which is true since the colonials rubbed reddish paste on their faces.
And yet, this decision by the Trademark office is even more repugnant when only FIVE so-called indians from 4 tribes hired lawyers - five people who are themselves viewing things in a racist paradigm and not even considering the real history of the Boston Redskins which later became the Washington Redskins.
Most Americans call so-called native Americans (they aren't native) as indians and that in and of itself is considered racist by many hardcore, non-drunk native Americans.
We also need to deal with the real racist logo which is the Cleveland Indians - so once the Redskins are put in their place, the Indians (itself a racist slur) will then be targeted because of their stereotypical logo. And then the Blackhawks....but this won't happen until Obozo is out of office since he'll protect his Chicago team.
There is also a sports team called the "Whities" and their merchandise sells like hotcakes - and as a "whitey" I think it is funny. But then again, I don't view things in racial terms unless the issue is brought up and then I debunk it.
Oklahoma to Indians means "red humans." Redskins to many American Indians means "scalps of Indians that were paid to cowboys as bounties."
