We've seen disgusting behavior by our President who so swiftly and cavalierly dismissed this situation as "maybe a tragedy" and interrupted his laughter and pandering for campaign dollars with 16 seconds of teleprompter read words that had the compassion of a cheese grater on an erect penis.   We saw him try to save his own ass the following day by trying to look Presidential and to stand behind a podium and in front of the words "White House".    We've long seen this man take his office so lightly and so cheaply that we have become numb to his typical pandering.

Regardless of how our President has sunk to new lows and only now seems to care about his own ass and party, we have to pause for a moment to remember what brought us here in the first place.    And in the recollection of those moments, we can see how we've lost our humanity.

298 innocent people - women, children, men, and a collection of all ages and creeds and nationalities were guilty of the repugnant crime of conducting their lives - thinking of their futures - spending time with their grandchildren - flight staff who switched shifts and one that lived and one that died in a quirk of fate.   We have infants - 8 and 10 year old children - a collection of some of the world's finest scientists who had the audacity to seek solutions to AIDS.    We had young and old and fit and fat - we had a multicultural cross section of what was good in the world who had their moment in reality torn apart as a missile or maybe two pierced their airplane and suddenly brought "their time" to a stopped moment in time.

Reports indicate that the plane in which these innocents was traveling was somewhere in the 30,000 to 33,000 feet range - cruising in the darkness with maybe some of the occupants in sleep as they dreamed the dreams of their fathers and ambitions.    And at that moment when someone below them had the nerve and the ambition to extend their political grievance upon the sky - upon the blip in the radar that they notice - and in seconds afterwards, a chariot that was streaking across the sky suddenly ceased being a mode of transportation through life and became a streaking funeral device as its passengers one by one started their last six miles on this earth without any hope - without anyone knowing or caring about them.

Think for a moment of those last moments of their existence as each one experienced losing cabin pressure, were subjected to freezing temperatures, the velocity of the six mile descent toward earth that was so savage that it denuded many of them.    And think for a moment of how long they were conscious of what had happened.   If they were sleeping, did they even wake up?   Did they simply transition from dream state to death?   And for those who were belted in their seats, did they find their  journey to the face of the earth a journey of a few seconds or a minute?   Were they aware of the fate that they found themselves?   Did they have time to call upon their maker?   Did they have time to think about their families and friends.   And what was that moment they experienced, if they had time, where they realized that upon their mode of travel, some selfish and likely drunk Russian had pulled the trigger on missiles of death.

How is it that we who have witnessed the aftermath of this carnage can now continue with our lives as our President has by going to camp david to escape the reality of what has transpired.    How is it that we don't ourselves contemplate that if someone or some cause will donate the lives of 300 innocents for their cause, that they won't seek to add our lives to that retribution?

Imagine the families in the Neatherlands who have had a proportionate carnage equal in percentage of population to our own September 11th - how must they feel in their angst and anger - their shock and disdain - and that our President, instead of standing with them in thought and purpose, was more worried about the number one priority being the knowledge of how many dead Americans there were?     How is it that we can be led in this manner by someone so shallow and so utterly devoid of humanity that he can't be dutch for a day as our friends across the globe were all americans for that moment when our twin towers fell?

Imagine our friends across the globe seeing that we are led by schmucks of a kind so devoid of soul and compassion that they'd scamper off for a brief holiday weekend when their 12-16 day vacation is within weeks of schedule.    How is it that we have failed to express our solidarity in seeking the redemption for these souls - and that we have given virtually not an ounce of compassion to them as we allow tens of thousands of law-breakers to invade our country with more concern?

As each of those 298 souls fell to earth in the six miles that it took from their arc of flight to the flatness of their meeting with the earth below, we must demand that their plight not be forgotten nor should we tolerate the absolutely repugnant behavior of our elected officials who are incessant whiners of their misfortune.    How is it that we have not immediately sought to put on notice those who perpetrated this and why have we not ordered without thought our total resources of recovery personnel so that we could at least treat the remains of the innocent with some dignity?    Have we lost our humanity as a nation with the selfish and greedy leaders we now have in power that we cannot get off our asses and actually act like we give a flying monkey's ass about those souls?

And why is it that the hashtag hag can flash a sign about our concern of kidnapped girls but she cannot pull herself away from Target and the cause of talking shopping carts to demand justice for the murdered souls who fell to earth and slammed into its surface as if they were human meteors?

Perhaps we only need to contrast our President's reaction to the happenings of July 17th with those of Ronald Reagan when the Soviets shot down a Korean airliner.   If you need further reminder of how utterly gutless and soul-less that our current President is, you should click here - and to think that Reagan cared enough to address the nation and not to just interrupt a campaign fundraiser.

May God have mercy on the victims' souls and may he save us from our own stupidity.
