The recent crash of German Wings flight 9525 is certainly horrific in the images of a modern airliner reduced to near snow-like shards as it slammed into a mountain in the French Alps.

What is now starting to emerge from cockpit voice recordings around the time of the crash is a picture of a crisis that is unthinkable - a pilot locked out of the cockpit unable to enter and unable to do a thing to save a doomed airliner.    The chilling notions of what transpired sends shivers down my spine:   was the other pilot already dead from natural causes?    Did the pilot in the cockpit commit suicide after locking the other pilot out?    Did the pilot in the cockpit lock out his comrade in order to commit suicide by intentionally flying the plane into the mountain?    Or was the pilot left in the cockpit do something we've seen before but with a new twist - did he commit a 9/11 suicide taking 149 other souls with him as a loan wolf in the Islamic war on the rest of the world?

We may never know, but the possibilities go beyond a Hollywood movie.   CNN reports.
