Grammy Awards Show Review

The Grammy Awards show this evening was one of the best ever awards shows I've ever seen - it worked - it flowed - it had a particularly nice upbeat tone despite the fact that Miss Whitney died yesterday and another recent female singer died a few weeks earlier.

I shall provide a review of the performers - and even though the horrific performer list is numerous, the show was altogether good enough to rise above some pretty piss poor performers.   I was disappointed on the level of remembrance of Miss Whitney, however.   

Not everyone will be mentioned - if they don't get a nod here, it was because they were good - not great - but not as horrible as the others.

Attention K-Mart shoppers - rap is not music - it is commercial hate.   How can you award hate?

MEMORABLE MOMENTS

• The Beach Boys - AMAZING - the ORIGINAL band was brought together and they were outstanding.
• Rhianna - didn't look or act slutty - sounded great.
• Jason Aldean and the Kelly Clarkson - wow.  Amazing.
• Bruno Mars - one of the best performances EVER - what an amazing entertainer he is!
• Adelle - great - great - great - this is a woman who doesn't need to hide behind digital gimmicks like Katy Perry.   Real talent - not a cheap ripoff of Lady Gag Gag and Madonna.
• Jennifer Hudson - OMG - don't usually like her but she flat out focking nailed her song.   Different than Whitney's and that is precisely what was needed!  AMAZING!   Wow, what a powerful way to pay tribute to Whitney.  BRAVO!
• Glen Campbell - perhaps his last televised performance due to his Alzheimer's disease.   He was as entertaining as ever though it seemed he was having trouble with the words - even though I know he intentionally changed some, there were other spots where he just made some up.  Memorable and sad.

HORRIFIC PERFORMERS

• Paul McCartney - simple dreadful.  Sounded like an 80 year old and looked worse.
• Cold Play - pure shit.  Not in tune and really made Rhianna work to cover the lead singer's shit.
• Taylor Swift - she's awful anyway but she looked like some rag doll from the 1930's.   I don't know if that is her usual costume, but she looked dumpy and sounded like it.
• Maroon Five - love them - but they simply aren't good enough to do Beach Boy songs - it was awkward.   Bad gig for them.
• The Civil War - never heard of them before and hope never to again.   Simply dreadful.
• Katy Perry - simply awful - the dimestore version of Lady Gag Gag - cheap ripoff of Lady Gag Gag (whom I loathe).   Sounded purely synthetic.   Typical rubbish popular singer who things gimmicks makes a dog howl sound like Whitney Houston.   Just a childish act.  
• Nikki Menage - HORRRRRRRRRRRRRIBLE - GROSS - one of the worst performers I've ever heard.
