R.I.P. Chris Economaki - Motorsports Icon

Thursday night we lost one of the biggest names in motorsports journalism, Chris Economaki.    He died at age 91.

I remember watching ABC's "Wide World of Sports" as a kid (dating myself) and the coverage by that network of motorsports events like the Indy 500 and Daytona 500 and many taped, edited versions of other races that were saved for "WWS" every Saturday.  

Unlike many of today's sports journalists who don't seem to be particularly intelligent and who are in their profession more for their own self-promotion, Chris Economaki was the consummate professional whose commentary was spot on and the voice will never be forgotten.
