First, I'm not sure what a Fergie is, but she's white and she sang the National Anthem during a nearly all-black NBA All-Star game. I'm not sure why a rapper couldn't be found to sing the anthem unless the powers that be tried to find a black performer to sing this who wouldn't squat in protest. And this is black history month. Let us not forget that black people made an impact since apparently none of us are non-prejudiced enough to look past our white privilege to understand that black people invented more than excuses for not achieving like white people and thinking they could become President. Oh, wait, that already has happened. At least half way happened.
Second, Fergie is white - and well, if you differ from the standard National Anthem as a white performer, you don't get to hide behind your blackness as an excuse to fuck it up with excessive runs and bad hair weaves.
Third, Fergie went non-traditional - again, going off the script here is not okay for a white performer - you can leave the plantation as a black one (so long as you come back to vote Democrat); this had all the hallmarks of a bad night and the rendition was imaginative in all the bad kind of ways.
Fourth, she remembered the words. OMG. She remembered the words. Shame on her.
