But you compound your chances of frustration when you place an order through a modern fast food drive thru.
My luck with fast food places (not named Chic-Fil-a) has been a hit and miss proposition of late. I never go through a drive through if I have a chance given I had a credit card duplicated by a visit a year or so ago when visiting a Wendy's. Because I was a loyal customer of theirs (note: "was"), I knew how long the lunch drive thru would take and one visit that resulted in me being subjected by a Eastern European immigrant gang by duplicating my card ended my visiting a drive thru again.
Until yesterday.
I was forced to choose a drive thru since the Toyoduh Corona virus has made it impossible to visit a restaurant to face another human and hope to receive food as it was ordered. As risk averse as I have become, I was not happy to have to go through a McDonald's drive thru. Never has a McDonald's drive thru experience been pleasant and now that I wasting my gas waiting for the line to move, I was not any more impressed by the seemingly lack of urgency to move cars.
Of course I ended up behind a Jughead making multiple orders - multiple separate orders - and of course asshole customer was whining and complaining once he received his orders. Who knew that his bitching might have had a real reason, because once it was my turn to hand my card to a cashier (thankfully not Eastern European in accent), I got a chance to see how awful fast food drive thrus have become. Of course I didn't look inside the bag or check the beverage until I had parked in the parking lot (where I couldn't get a virus from some other customer).
What the fuck do you do when you can't take the fucked up order into the restaurant where you can hope someone behind the counter will notice you?
Well, I wasn't going back into the line of cars again.
So I muttered to myself and ate the order that I was regretting having to eat.
The sandwich was fine - it was almost hot. It was almost good. And that is where the goodness ended.
The fries I reached for were hot. They were also undercooked. It was obvious that the limp thing that I put in my mouth was never going to get erect. The fries were obviously pulled early from the non-beef-tallow shortening. I guess I should have counted my lucky stars that these fries were pulled AFTER they were half way done. The fries weren't fully cooked. They were horrific. I ate them all hoping I wouldn't barf them up later. The good news my stomach didn't purge the limpness.
And then I reached for the $1 large beverage I ordered. It was supposed to be a Coke. It turned out to be a mop bucket tasting thing impersonating Sweet Tea - and here in the south, Sweet means that you have tea flavored sugar syrup. I nearly barfed. It was like licking my first snatch without the fish smell. But it was no less rancid or revolting. Lucky me having a warm liquid in my mouth when there was supposed to be something chilled. Apparently this was fresh mop water since I eventually reached a strata of a cold band that resulted in almost ice to be consumed along with five pounds of sugar and a teaspoon of tea.
Dog germs! Dog germs! I wish I was Lucy enough to slug someone.
Instead I was Charlie Brown and I endured half of the swill before I couldn't take anymore.
I guess I should count my lucky stars that it was not like my last and only Shamrock Shake from a visit to the inside before the Toyoduh Corona virus was all the rage. This was a dine-in experience where Ramone and Leroy couldn't figure out how to make a Shamrock shake during lunch and ended up pouring in green syrup into a vanilla shake and blended it in such a way that it was less blended than a bar of Irish Spring. I guess there was a hint of mint in between giants splatters of vanilla in my mouth. These splatters of vanilla were interrupted by huge gushes of mint that made me wish for some hot protein squirts.
But this is McDonald's and possibly catching a virus would be a better outcome than actually eating and drinking this shit.

Careers produced jobs that paid at that level and more.
But then the social justice assholes who fabricated the notion that "minimum wage" should be a "living wage" stepped in and whored out the minimum wage worker into someone getting overpaid for the level of service and quality control that they offer.
Because of the escalating labor rates, I have eschewed buying fast food because the effect has been to create outrageous prices for a product that has become increasingly inconsistent. I'm sorry, but no "combo" is worth $8 or more just so that the people who will lower themselves to work at the average fast food job can afford an iphone, to reproduce without responsibility, and can drive a $500 car with $2500 rims and wheels.
It has been quite some time since I frequented a fast food outlet because of my contempt for overpaying for unskilled workers who don't give a flying fuck about the product they serve and certainly find the customer to be an inconvenience and interruption to getting humped by a new potential baby daddy.
For some reason on Christmas eve day, at lunch time, I wanted some Wendy's. I specifically was not going to overpay so I ordered one of their "four for four" specials that included a Double Stack, a Four Piece Chicken Nugget, a small fry, and a small soft drink. I drink soft drinks even less often than I buy fast food, but I wanted to "treat myself" for Christmas Eve and I figured that going during lunch would provide me with the best chance of having hot food hot and cold food cold.
Well, I got the cold and hot food cold.
I loathe drive thru windows because of the clowns who place 5 orders at the window because they are too lazy to pull their fat asses out of their car and to actually burn calories going inside where they can inconvenience fewer people than go through the drive thru these days. And because the line at the drive thru on this day was lengthy (go figure), I got out of my car and ordered without a delay with a rather rotund black woman who at least wasn't on a cell phone and who was somewhat responsive to my request.
The order was not fulfilled in a timely order since I was a mere peeon who got out of his car and the drive thru these days is prioritized at front counter customer experience. I had time to pull together my needed napkins and salt packet and several straws (my cat loves straws). I was not given my drink cup at the time of the order so I couldn't fill that to eat up my waiting time. I was apparently waiting on my double stack since my fries and nuggets were already harvested from the abundant sitting inventory.
I should have known better than to assume that lunch time meant hot food time.
The cashier was pleasant enough (more so than usual fare at these joints) and I went to my car foolishly not checking to see if my sandwich was hot nor to steal some fries from the bag.
My bad.
Five minutes is the most time that it takes to walk out of door at this Wendy's and then to travel from there to my house and to walk into the front door and then to dispense the items from the bag.
Yet somehow in that five minutes Wendy's had provided me with a burger that was warm at best and fries that were not and they were soggy and chicken nuggets that were formerly warm at some point several Saturdays ago.
I was irritated to the point of "why bother" as to packing this shit up and taking it back - I was hungry - and I debated whether I might get sick from food poisoning if I consumed this shit. Alas, my hunger won out and I consumed the shit given to me by the overpaid and blind and uncaring fast food worker who conspired with the rest of the overpaid staff to shovel out shit to everyone on Christmas eve. You see, they had to work on Christmas eve to serve us and that was somehow an obligation that they weren't prepared to perform at top notch level. And where the fuck was the manager? I don't know. Maybe he/she/it was having lunch in the back office having prepared it fresh for themselves.
And so we have it - another shining example of how Wendy's is complete garbage and that fast food in general is so pathetic at the inflated rates that are charged to pay these mofo's a living wage.

As I have experienced fast food working my way through college and starting at just over $2 per hour, I can say that 90% of fast food workers are overpaid at $5 per hour and none are worth more than $7.50 per hour.
At no time was the minimum wage EVER designed to be a living wage.
I don't give a flying fuck if you impregnate 10 different sows or you have 20 different children - I don't care if you overpaid for a college education that delivers nothing in the real world - I don't care if you were unemployed at a higher paying job and now you have to settle for a minimum wage one.
YOUR CIRCUMSTANCE DOES NOT CHANGE THE RATIONALE FOR A MINIMUM WAGE!
What has happened is that the ranks of those making the minimum wage has exploded because of King Pimple of a Man's policies - he has cost you hours because of his stupid Obamascare plans - he has swelled your ranks because no one can find a job - most simply leave the laborforce and his record there is at record levels for the past 35 years.
If you cannot make ends meet at a minimum wage job, oh fucking well - get another. That is what has always been done - but you greedy, self-righteous, lazy, assholes think you should be a CEO on day one. You don't give any service - it would be an improvement if you gave mediocre service.
I hope you get your wage - because you know what - Big Macs will cost $10 each. A Wendy's triple cheese will cost $15. And a Big Gulp will cost you $5. You have no idea how this increase will cascade across the planet - and - at $15 per hour, you will be terminated as technology that exists right now will replace you. Places will go to touchscreens replacing LaQuisha who is busy taking her phone call from baby daddy five begging her for $20 so he can get some smokes. French fries can be cooked by automation. Burgers as well. And sammiches can be topped by a fixin bar where customers make their own damn food.
I hope you all become unemployed. If you were worth more than minimum wage, you'd already be the manager.
